PALOS VERDES ESTATES, Calif. – Freshman Texas golfer Kaitlyn Papp fired a two-under-par 69 Sunday to lead the No. 7 Longhorns on the opening day of the Northrop Grumman Intercollegiate, played at Palos Verdes Country Club in Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.

As a team, Texas finished the first 18 holes of the 54-hole event in 11th place with a 14-over-par 298. The Longhorns are slated to tee off in the second round at 11:22 a.m. CT on Monday. Live results will be available at GolfStat.com.

For Papp, who has posted four top-25 finishes in five events her rookie season, Sunday's opening round marked the third sub-70 round of her collegiate career. She was one of five players in the field on Sunday to record an eagle.

Fellow freshman Agathe Laisne is in a tie for 39th place after a four-over-par 75, while sophomore Emilee Hoffman is currently tied for 53rd place with a five-over-par 76.

Sophomore Greta Isabella Voelker is tied for 64th with an opening-round 78, while junior Maddie Luitwieler is tied for 87th with an 81.

The Northrop Grumman Intercollegiate is the first tournament of the spring semester for the 2017-18 Longhorns following a highly successful fall that saw Texas post four top-five team finishes, including a team title at the Betsy Rawls Invitational.
