BATON ROUGE, La.—Despite hitting three homers on the night, including two off the bat of Zach Zubia, No. 19 Texas Baseball (3-3) fell, 10-5, to No. 23 LSU (4-2) on Saturday evening at Alex Box Stadium.

Texas got things going early in the game thanks to the long ball. DJ Petrinsky led off the top of the second with a base hit and designated hitter Zubia crushed an 0-1 offering over the left-center field fence for his first home run as a Longhorn.

Up 2-0, Kody Clemens added to the lead with his first homer of the year, a solo shot to make it 3-0 in favor of the Longhorns.

With Chase Shugart cruising, Austin Todd drove in Duke Ellis with an RBI single in the fourth to push the lead to 4-0 and Zubia went deep once again in the fifth to give Texas a 5-0 advantage.

In the bottom of the fifth, however, LSU rallied. Defensive miscues aided the Tigers who tied up the ballgame with a five-run inning.

LSU took its first lead of the night in the seventh when it hung two runs on freshman reliever Bryce Elder (1-1). The Tigers added three in the eighth and the Longhorns could not overcome the late deficit.

Clemens, Petrinsky, Zubia, and Shaw each finished with two hits apiece while Ellis had a three-hit night.

Texas will look to salvage the series on Sunday with a 1 p.m. start time. Sophomore Blair Henley is scheduled to take the mound for the Longhorns.
