No. 19 Baseball's offense erupts in 11-1 win over No. 23 LSU

Texas pounded out 13 hits and 11 runs to salvage the series with the Tigers.
BATON ROUGE, La.—No. 19 Texas Baseball pounded out 13 hits en route to an 11-1 win over No. 23 LSU on Sunday at Alex Box Stadium. The Longhorns (4-3) were bolstered by a strong start from Blair Henley and a pair of three-hit games by David Hamilton and Tate Shaw.
The Longhorns got on the board first in the ballgame thanks to a four-run third inning. Shaw opened the frame with a double to left-center but the Tigers managed two quick groundouts. With two away, Texas did its damage.
Hamilton doubled to right field to plate Shaw and Masen Hibbeler followed with a single to put two on. After Kody Clemens was intentionally walked to load the bases, Zach Zubia cleared them with a three-run double to center, staking the Longhorns to a 4-0 lead.
In the fourth, Texas added to its lead. Shaw singled to left-center with one out and, after Michael McCann singled to the right side to put runners on the corners, Duke Ellis dropped a perfect squeeze bunt to plate Shaw and make it 5-0.
The Longhorns continued their offense in the fifth frame thanks to a bases loaded single off the bat of Ryan Reynolds that plated two and made it 7-0 in favor of Texas.
On the hill, Henley (1-0) was solid for the Longhorns. The sophomore allowed six hits and three walks over six shutout innings to claim his first win of the season.
The offense behind Henley added insurance in the seventh with a four-run frame. Ellis added an RBI groundout before Hamilton, Hibbeler, and Clemens all added run-scoring hits to push Texas' lead to 11-0.
LSU broke up the shutout in the ninth with a run off Beau Ridgeway, but the junior finished off the ballgame to secure the first Texas win in Baton Rouge since 1999.
Texas returns to UFCU Disch-Falk Field on Tuesday night with a 6:30 p.m. game against UTSA.
