KANE'OHE, O'AHU, Hawaii– Freshman golfer Kaitlyn Papp fired a field-leading one-over-par 145 (71-74) Tuesday and the No. 6 Texas women's golf team currently stands in first place following the opening 36 holes of the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational at Kane'ohe Klipper Golf Course.

The Longhorns hold a 14-stroke lead entering the final 18 holes of the event after recording a 13-over-par two-round total of 589 (293-296). Texas' two rounds marked the only sub-300 team rounds recorded among the field on Tuesday. No. 15 Oklahoma State is currently in second place with a 27-over-par 603 (303-300).

Texas carded a field-best 30 birdies on the opening day of the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational and leads all teams with tournament-best averages on par-three (3.30), par-four (4.15) and par-five (5.00) holes.

The final 18 holes of the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational are slated to begin at 1 p.m. CT Wednesday with a shotgun start. The Longhorns are looking to win their second tournament of the season after capturing the Betsy Rawls Invitational in the fall. Texas has five top-five finishes in its seven tournaments so far this season.

Papp is seeking her second tournament individual championship in her last three outings and currently leads the field with a one-stroke lead. She recorded her team-leading 12th round at par or better on the first 18 holes with a one-under-par 71, before recording a 74 on the second 18 holes. Papp tied for the individual lead with seven birdies on the day and also finished with 21 pars. She had the best average among all competitors on Tuesday on par-four holes (3.95).

Sophomore Emilee Hoffman is tied for second place with a two-over-par 146 (70-76). Her opening-round 70 marked the best individual round by any golfer in the field on Tuesday. She is tied with Texas A&M's Maddie Szeryk for second place and also recorded seven birdies over the opening 36 holes.

Junior Maddie Luitwieler, competing as an individual, is in fifth place with a five-over-par 149 (74-75). She notched a team-best 24 pars and tied for the best average among all competitors on par-three holes (3.00).

Senior Sophia Schubert is currently tied for sixth place with a six-over-par 150 (78-72) with 20 pars and six birdies on the day, while sophomore Greta Isabella Voelker is tied for ninth with a seven-over-par 151 (77-74). Voelker tied for the individual lead with seven birdies on the day.

Freshman Agathe Laisne is in a tie for 27th with an 11-over-par 155 (75-80).
