No. 6 Women's Golf punches ticket to championship round of March Mayhem

The Longhorns defeated Iowa State, 4.5-0.5 on Tuesday.
RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. – The No. 6 Texas women's golf team claimed four of its matches and tied the fifth on Tuesday as the Longhorns advanced to the championship round of March Mayhem with a 4.5-0.5 win against Iowa State in the semifinal round at The Farms Golf Club in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.
The Longhorns will face top-seeded and No. 7 Southern California in Wednesday's championship round, which is slated to begin at 10:30 a.m. CT with a shotgun start. Texas is 2-0 this season in meetings with the Women of Troy.
The 2018 event marks the fourth year of the March Mayhem match-play format. USC took home the title in 2016 and 2017 and has four victories at March Mayhem since 2013. Tennessee captured the 2015 event.
Junior Maddie Luitwieler earned a commanding 6 and 4 victory against Iowa State's Nattapan Sirtrai. Freshman Agathe Laisne defeated Iowa State's Alanna Campbell, 2 and 1.
Freshman Kaitlyn Papp beat Iowa State's Celia Barquin Arozamena, 1 up, while sophomore Greta Isabella Voelker topped Iowa State's Amelia Grohn, 1 up.
Sophomore Emilee Hoffman tied Chayanit Wangmahaporn, Iowa State's top golfer and the nation's 65th-ranked player according to Golfweek.
