Seniors Doug Ghim and Scottie Scheffler finished in the top-five to lead the Longhorns.
TULSA, Okla. – Senior Doug Ghim posted his second win of the season after claiming the 2018 Big 12 Championship individual title, tying with three other players for first place at Southern Hills Country Club on Wednesday.
With the win, Ghim becomes the sixth Big 12 Champion in Texas history, 15th individual conference champion, and the first since teammate Scottie Scheffler won at Southern Hills in 2015.
Ghim shot a fourth-round 73 to close the tournament 3-over par. He started his day with a par and continued with bogey, birdie, bogey on holes two, three, and four. He made six-straight pars before back-to-back bogeys on 11 and 12. He made two more birdies and two bogeys on the last four holes to close the day with a 3-over 73.
Scheffler posted his lowest finish of the season with a tie for fifth with a fourth-round 70.
He began his day with three birdies in the first four holes followed by five-straight pars to conclude an errorless front nine. He made two pars to start the back nine, but made a double bogey on 12 and a bogey on 13 to return to even par. He made three-straight pars, closing his round with a birdie on 17 and bogey on 18 for a fourth-round 70.
Junior Steven Chervony rounded out the top-20 for the Longhorns, tying for 18th with a fourth-round 72. He made 14 pars during the round, one birdie, and three bogeys. Chervony finished with a tournament-best 50 pars.

As a team, the Longhorns tied for second place at 27-over par.
Oklahoma won the Big 12 Championship title, while Ghim shared medalist honors with Kansas State's Jeremy Gandon, Oklahoma's Grant Hirschman, and Oklahoma State's Kristoffer Ventura.

Head Coach John Fields
On the tournament: The guys played well today. We had a 9-over par round today at 289 in tough conditions. We knew that a great round might give us a chance to win, but we didn't have that today. We had some really good things happen early, which kind of gave us the opportunity to get in the hunt, which was a good feeling. Unfortunately, we just didn't have that great round that we needed. I wouldn't say that we played poorly, because a 289 out here on a tough day is not a bad score. There are so many positives we can take from this week. We are a lot better team than this, we just have to keep rolling and getting more comfortable. We came here thinking and feeling like we had a chance to win. We got to the last day and we were in the hunt in the last part of the round with a chance to win. It didn't happen this time, but we have a couple more tournaments this year with a chance to win, so we will be ready for those.
Senior Doug Ghim
It's nice to win, obviously. I wish I could have made that putt on 18, but it was a great week. It was a strong field with a lot of good players. Our conference is typically one of the stronger ones, so to be able to be in a position to say that I was in position to win a tournament like this is a great feeling.
