"I'm really excited to see what happens when the gun goes off Friday night," PattiSue Plumer said. "I'm excited to see who steps up in a race setting. We're using Friday night as a teaching tool to gauge what we need to continue to improve upon going forward through the season."
On the men's side, the top six runners return from last season, including All-Big 12 performers Sam Worley, Connor O'Neill, Alex Rogers, John Rice and Charles Mills. UT finished one point shy of the Big 12 title, finishing second at the NCAA South Central Regional meet. "The first official day of cross country is always exciting," Pete Watson said. "We look to make a lot of progress this season and continue to grow as a program. An early season meet like this gives us a chance to see where some guys are at as we continue our training, and it's always exciting to see some of the younger guys put on the Texas jersey for the first time."
