AUSTIN, Texas - The University of Texas Track & Field program begins its 2019 competition schedule on Saturday at Texas A&M's Ted Nelson Invitational. The Longhorns opened the indoor season in December at the Reveille Invitational, also inside Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium in College Station. The action on Saturday begins at noon and action can be watched on SEC Network online.
"We are excited to get back into action on Saturday," head coach Edrick Floréal said. "For many of our student-athletes, this is a chance to open their indoor competition schedule. Our team has been training hard for the opportunity to compete and we are ready to do so against some very strong programs from the state of Texas in a world-class facility in College Station."
In addition to the Longhorns and Texas A&M, other schools competing will be Abilene Christian, Baylor, Stephen F. Austin, Texas State, UT-Arlington and UTSA.

The Longhorn men came in at No. 4 in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) preseason National Rating Index. The index measured the roster based on previous collegiate best marks, to predict how teams would finish at the end of the season. UT's women are ranked No. 12. While just a predictor tool, those rankings would signify vast improvement over indoor season in 2018, when UT's men finished 12th and the women 54th.
