Cameron Dicker kicked his second game-winning field goal of the season as time expired.
AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Football drove the length of the of field and setup Cameron Dicker for his second game-winning field goal of the season as the Longhorns outlasted No. 16/20 Kansas State, 27-24, on Saturday at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.
Key Statistics
- Kansas State started the game with back-to-back touchdown drives to take a 14-0 lead halfway through the first quarter.
- Texas got on the board in the second quarter, using an 80-yard touchdown drive. Sam Ehlinger connected with Colin Johnson for a 21-yard touchdown pass.
- The Longhorn defense forced a turnover to stop a Wildcats drive, when Brandon Jones forced a fumble that was recovered by Moro Ojomo.
- The Texas defense got another stop near the end of the half to keep the score 14-7 at halftime.
- Texas started the half strong, with a 75-yard touchdown drive that included 54 yards on the ground by Keaontay Ingram. The drive was capped off by a 34-yard game-tying touchdown run by Ingram.
- After a Kansas State punt, the Longhorns took their first lead of the day on a 36-yard field goal by Cameron Dicker.
- Brandon Jones engineered a great punt return, weaving 53 yards down to the Kansas State 21-yard line. The great return set up a 12-yard rushing touchdown by Ingram to give Texas a 24-14 lead.
- With the score, Ingram went over the 100-yard rushing mark for the fourth time in his career. He finished with a career-high 139 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries.
- The Wildcats answered with their own big special teams play, a 98-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.
- Kansas State kicked a game-tying field goal with 6:45 left in the game to make the score 24-24.
- Texas took the ball, ran off the remaining 6:45 and Cameron Dicker kicked his second game-winning field goal of the season to give the Longhorns the 27-24 win.
