No. 3 Women's Golf in lead after first 18 at Allstate Sugar Bowl

NEW ORLEANS – Texas golfers Hailee Cooper and Maddie Luitwieler are among the individual top-five on Sunday and the No. 3 Longhorns lead the Allstate Sugar Bowl Collegiate Golf Championship after the event's first 18 holes at English Turn Golf and Country Club.
The Longhorns fired a three-under-par 285 and hold the team lead by one stroke. No. 5 Duke is in second place after a two-under-par 286, while No. 1 Southern California is in third with a one-over-par 289. The event features nine of the nation's top-25 teams.
As a team, Texas totaled a field-best 61 pars on the day and was second with 15 birdies. The Longhorns also had the best scoring average among all participating teams on par-four holes [4.06, +3].
A LOOK AT THE LINEUP
- Cooper is currently in a tie for second place individually with a three-under-par 69, which marks her fourth score in the 60s this season. She had six birdies on the day, which tied for the most among golfers in the field on Sunday. It marked Cooper's 11th round this season at par or better.
- Luitwieler turned in the second-best score of her collegiate career with a two-under-par 70. She stands in a tie for fifth-place individually.
- Sophomore Kaitlyn Papp and freshman Sára Kousková are both tied for 18th-place individually with one-over-par 73s. Papp's 15 pars on the day were the most among individuals in the field.
- Sophomore Agathe Laisne is tied for 46th with a four-over-par 76.
