No. 2 Women's Golf tied for third after opening day of Evans Derby Experience

AUBURN, Ala. – Sophomore Agathe Laisne led the way on Saturday with a two-under-par 70 and the No. 2 Texas women's golf team is currently tied for third following the opening 18 holes at the Evans Derby Experience at Saugahatchee Country Club.
The Longhorns carded a two-over-par 290 on Saturday and sit five strokes back of the team lead. No. 8 Arkansas leads the tournament field with a three-under-par 285, while No. 7 Florida is second with an even-par 288. Texas is tied for third with host Auburn.
As a team, Texas totaled 62 pars, which ranked second among all participating teams. Texas is one of 10 teams in the 14-team field ranked among the nation's top-25 squads according to Golfstat.
A LOOK AT THE LINEUP
- Laisne led the Longhorns on Saturday with a two-under-par 70 and she is currently tied for fourth. She was one of nine golfers in the tournament field to record an opening round under par. It marked her 11th round this season at par or better.
- Sophomore Kaitlyn Papp is tied for 10th with an even-par 72, which marked her team-leading 13th round this season at par or better. Papp totaled 12 pars and three birdies on Saturday.
- Senior Maddie Luitwieler was the top golfer competing as an individual on Saturday, also turning in an even-par 72. She is one of 17 players in the field this weekend competing as an individual.
- Freshmen Sara Kouskova and Hailee Cooper are tied for 30th with two-over-par 74s. Cooper recorded a team-best 16 pars on Saturday.
- Junior Emilee Hoffman is tied for 81st with a nine-over-par 81.
