No. 5 Men’s Golf tied for second after day three at NCAA Championships

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The No. 5 Texas Men's Golf team posted a one-over-par 289 on Sunday to climb into a tie for second place after the third day of the NCAA Championships at Blessings Golf Club. Freshman Pierceson Coody paced the Longhorns with a two-under-par 70 in Sunday's third round.
The Longhorns, who rallied to post a combined score (top four players) of five-under-par over their final nine holes on Sunday, have recorded a 54-hole total of 13-over-par 877 (298-290-289). Oklahoma State holds the lead at 12-under-par 852 (290-276-286), while Stanford is tied with Texas for second at 877 (291-287-299).
Freshman Parker Coody is the low Texas player in the individual standings. He posted a three-over-par 75 on Sunday and is tied for 19th place at three-over-par 219 (72-72-75).
Oklahoma State's Matthew Wolff holds the individual lead at seven-under-par 209 (73-66-70). Austin Eckroat of Oklahoma State is second at five-under-par 211 (69-69-73), while Georgia Southern's Steven Fisk is third at four-under-par 212 (76-68-68).
The 2019 NCAA Championships continue on Monday, May 27 with stroke play for the top 15 teams and top nine individuals from non-advancing teams. Golf Channel will provide live national coverage of Monday's final round of stroke play from 3-7 p.m. Central. The individual NCAA champion will be crowned following the completion of 72 holes of stroke play.
The top eight teams following Monday's final round of stroke play will advance to the NCAA Match Play Championships. Quarterfinals and semifinals will be held on Tuesday, May 28, while the NCAA Championship match is scheduled for Wednesday, May 28.

- Freshman Parker Coody posted a three-over-par 75 in Sunday's third round and is tied for 19th place at three-over-par 219 (72-72-75). He carded three birdies (2, 6 and 13) during Sunday's round.
- Freshman Cole Hammer registered a one-under-par 71 in Sunday's third round and is tied for 34th place at six-over-par 222 (75-76-71). After playing his first 13 holes at three-over, Hammer rallied to make birdie on four of his final five holes (5, 6, 7 and 9) during Sunday's round. He climbed 38 spots in the individual standings on Sunday.
- Senior Steven Chervony posted a five-over-par 77 in Sunday's third round and is tied for 34th place at six-over-par 222 (75-70-77).
- Freshman Pierceson Coody fired a two-under-par 70 in Sunday's third round and is tied for 43rd place at seven-over-par 223 (81-72-70). He carded three birdies (1, 10 and 12) and just one bogey during Sunday's round. Coody climbed 46 spots in the individual standings on Sunday.
- Junior Spencer Soosman recorded a one-over-par 73 in Sunday's third round and is tied for 65th place at 10-over-par 226 (76-77-73). Soosman posted three birdies (2, 6 and 11) during Sunday's round.

The fourth and final round of stroke play at the NCAA Championships will be played on Monday, May 27 at Blessings Golf Club. The Longhorns will be paired with Oklahoma State and Stanford, and tee times will begin at 12:28 p.m. CT from hole 1. Golf Channel will provide live national coverage from 3-7 p.m. CT.
