Texas trails the all-time series against BYU, 9-11, with their last win coming on Dec. 9, 2016. This will be the eighth time the two teams have met on a neutral site. BYU holds the neutral site advantage, 4-3. Last season, two met in the regional final in Provo. BYU swept the match to move on to the NCAA Semifinals. The Cougars are 5-1 on the year with their lone loss coming to Marquette. They will play Wichita State on Thursday, Sept. 12 before taking on Texas on the 13th.

Texas holds a 3-0 all-time advantage over the Shockers, with the last meeting coming in 2016, where the Longhorns won, 3-1. This marks the first time the Longhorns with travel to Wichita, Kansas to take on the Shockers. WCU is 3-3 on the season with wins over Hofstra, Holy Cross, and North Texas and losses to then-No.8 Penn State, San Jose State, and at Cal Poly.
NOTES
- Texas is 3-1 on the young season with wins over UNI, No. 14 USC, No. 8 Minnesota, and a five-set loss at No. 1 Stanford.
- On the outside, senior Micaya White and sophomore Logan Eggleston have been playing very well. Against Stanford they both put down 19 kills, which was a career-best mark for Logan Eggleston. Through the first four matches, the two have recorded double-digit kills in every match.
- Freshman Skylar Fields picked up the Big 12 Rookie of the Week honor on Sept. 2 after she opened the first weekend of action with back-to-back double-digit kill performances by way of 15 kills on a .577 hitting clip against UNI and 14 kills on a .458 hitting average against No. 14 USC. The rookie owns the second-best hitting percentage in the league at .520.
- Fellow Freshman Molly Phillips was named Big 12 Rookie of the Week follow her play against No. 8 Minnesota and No. 1 Stanford. In a three-set sweep of No. 8 Minnesota, Phillips put down five kills with a .500 hitting percentage and averaged 1.00 block/set. Against No. 1 Stanford, the rookie hammered a season-best 11 kills, hitting .450. On the week she averaged 2.00 kills/set for a league-leading .464 hitting clip.
- Texas owns a 112-53 (.679) record against ranked opponents over the last 13+ seasons (2004-19) and a 53-12 (.813) mark against ranked opponents at Gregory Gym during that span.
