AUSTIN, Texas – The University of Texas (3-2, 2-2) defeated Baylor University (1-2, 1-2), 27-16, at Darrell K Royal – Texas Memorial Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Texas sealed the game when Sam Ehlinger connected with Cade Brewer for 13 yards on fourth-and-2 from the Baylor 17-yard line with under two minutes remaining in the game.

KEY STATISTICS

Baylor started the scoring late in the first quarter with a 22-yard field to close out a 12-play, 67-yard drive with 49 seconds remaining in the frame.
Texas responded with a field goal drive of their own with Cameron Dicker hitting from 42 yards to even the score 3-3.
The Longhorns took a 6-3 lead on their next possession with a Dicker 23-yard field goal to wrap up a 9-play, 75-yard drive highlighted by a 72-yard strike from Ehlinger to Tarik Black that moved UT from their own eight to the Baylor 20.
Texas extended the lead to 13-3 with a Joshua Moore 3-yard touchdown reception, capping a drive that included a 42-yard reception by Moore that took Texas to the Baylor seven-yard line.
Texas opened the second half with their second touchdown drive of the game, a 12-play, 75-yard effort capped by a 1-yard touchdown run by Ehlinger to give the Longhorns a 20-3 lead.
Ehlinger netted his second rushing touchdown of the game two drives later, scoring from nine yards out to push the Texas advantage to 27-3 with 20 seconds to play in the third quarter.
Baylor closed the gap to 27-9 on their next possession, collecting six points on a touchdown pass but failing to convert on a two-point attempt.
The Bears capitalized on a UT turnover, returning an interception to the Texas 25-yard line and scoring on 7-yard a touchdown pass five plays later, cutting the Texas lead to 27-16 with 7:37 remaining in the game.
Baylor regained the ball with 4:01 to play but had their drive end when Chris Brown broke up a pass on fourth-and-7 deep in Bear territory.
Juwan Mitchell led the Texas defense with 12 tackles and two tackles for loss, establishing career highs in both categories, while Moro Ojomo recorded his first career sack.
