No. 1 Volleyball takes down No. 3 Baylor

For the second-straight night, the Longhorns outlasted the Bears in a five-set thriller.
AUSTIN, Texas – No. 1 Texas Volleyball improved to 12-0 on the season with a five-set win over No. 3 Baylor, 25-22, 26-24, 27-29, 14-25, 15-6, Friday night at Frank Erwin Center.
On Thursday night, Texas dropped the first two sets before winning the next three and the match, while on Friday it was nearly the exact opposite. The Longhorns jumped out to an early lead by winning the first two sets, before Baylor stormed back to even the match at two sets apiece. The fifth set went nearly the same way both nights though, with Texas putting the Bears away in a resounding way.
Brionne Butler was a dominant force in the middle, finishing the match with 11 kills and 11 blocks for her first double-double of the season. Skylar Fields also finished with 11 kills and added three blocks and three digs.
Logan Eggleston led Texas with 14 kills and added 10 digs for her third double-double of the season. She also added three blocks. Asjia O'Neal added nine kills, two blocks, two aces and two digs. Molly Phillips finished with seven kills, including four in the decisive fifth set, and added five blocks.
Jhenna Gabriel dished out 44 assists and added nine blocks, while Nalani Iosia finished with 23 digs and four assists.
The match marked Senior Night for Ashley Shook, playing her final home match as a Texas Longhorn. She finished the night with three assists and one block.
The Longhorns head back on the road to West Virginia for a pair of matches on Thursday and Friday, both at 5 p.m. and on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
