No. 7 Women’s Tennis wins 5-2 at No. 22 Georgia Tech

Longhorns take doubles point before winning first four singles courts to clinch second-straight Top-25 victory.
ATLANTA, Ga. — The No. 7 University of Texas women's tennis team registered a 5-2 win against No. 22 Georgia Tech on Saturday afternoon indoors at Byers Tennis Complex. The Longhorns improved to 4-0 on the season and registered their second-straight victory against a Top-25 opponent in as many days in Atlanta.
Texas took an early 1-0 advantage after claiming the doubles point. Freshman Adri Nagy and sophomore Tijana Spasojevic posted a 6-3 win over Sophia Sassoli and Monika Dedaj on court 3. Junior Fernanda Labraña and sophomore Marta Perez Mur then rallied from a 5-4 deficit to win three straight games and clinch the point with a 7-5 victory against Gia Cohen and Nami Otsuka on court 2. Senior twin sisters Anna Turati and Bianca Turati held a 5-4 lead on court 1 against No. 51 Victoria Flores and Kenya Jones when the point was decided.
Singles action proved to be intense, as five of the six matches extended to three sets. Nagy got off the court first at third singles, registering an impressive 6-1, 5-7, 6-0 victory against No. 73 Cohen. No. 98 Labraña followed with a 6-4, 2-6, 6-2 win over Otsuka at fourth singles to extend UT's lead to 3-0.
No. 4 Anna Turati clinched the dual-match victory for the Longhorns with a 6-3, 7-6 (9-7) win against Flores at second singles. Bianca Turati added a 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 victory over No. 53 Jones at first singles. With the dual match result already determined, Perez Mur dropped a 5-7, 6-3, 6-3 decision to Rosie Garcia Gross at fifth singles and Spasojevic fell 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 against Nadia Gizdova at sixth singles.
Texas returns to action on Friday, Feb. 7, when it travels to Chicago to compete in the ITA National Team Indoor Championship presented by Oracle. Tournament seeding and brackets for the 16-team event that runs through Monday, Feb. 10 will be announced next week.
