No. 1 Women's Golf in fourth after opening day of ICON Invitational

Freshman Sophie Guo leads the individual standings at four-under-par.
THE WOODLANDS, Texas – Freshman Sophie Guo, the nation's top-ranked collegiate golfer, fired a four-under-par two-round total of 140 [70-70] on Monday to lead No. 1 Texas on the opening day of the ICON Invitational at The Woodlands Country Club.
The Longhorns are currently in fourth place through 36 holes at the ICON Invitational with a three-over-par 579 [286-293]. Texas enters the final round of the event two strokes off the team lead.
No. 5 Kent State and Purdue lead the field with one-over-par 577s, while TCU is in third with a two-over-par 578.
As a team, the Longhorns have the best scoring average on par-three [2.88, -5] and par-five [4.83, -7] holes of any squad in the field. Texas' 26 birdies are second-most of any team through 36 holes.
LINEUP AT A GLANCE
- Guo holds a two-stroke lead in the individual standings with a four-under-par 140 [70-70]. She recorded her team-leading 12th and 13th rounds at par or better on Monday. Guo logged a squad-best 28 pars through the first two rounds.
- Sophomore Hailee Cooper is tied for eighth with an even-par 144 [71-73]. Cooper has the second-best par-five scoring average [4.63, -3] of any golfer in the field.
- Senior Emilee Hoffman is tied for 19th with a two-over-par 146 [70-76]. Hoffman has the best par-three scoring average [2.63, -3] of any golfer in the ICON field. She also recorded a team-leading seven birdies through the first 36 holes.
- Junior Agathe Laisne is tied for 43rd with a six-over-par 150 [76-74], while sophomore Sara Kouskova is tied for 55th with an eight-over-par 152 [75-77].

The final round of the ICON Invitational will begin at 8 a.m. CT Tuesday with a shotgun start at The Woodlands Country Club.
