No. 5 Baseball falls at Texas A&M, 2-0

The Longhorns pitched well but were unable to get the bats going in a narrow loss.
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – No. 5 Texas Baseball lost to Texas A&M, 2-0, on Tuesday night at Blue Bell Park. The Longhorns dropped to 17-8 on the season and will head to Kansas for a weekend series starting Thursday at 6 p.m.
Pete Hansen started and pitched the longest outing of his career, logging 5 1/3 innings pitched and allowing just one run on four hits. He was credited with the loss and dropped to 2-1 this season.
Silas Ardoin went 2-for-3 and walked to lead the Longhorns offensively, while Zach Zubia and Mitch Daly each added a hit.
Hansen gave up a pair of singles to start the first inning but was able to retire the next three hitters on three pitches to get out of the jam.
The Longhorns got a runner to third in each of the first two innings but were unable to scratch out a run.
Texas A&M took a 1-0 lead in the fourth on a solo home run to left field, marking the first hit allowed since the opening frame. Hansen got a strikeout to end the inning without any more damage done.
Tanner Witt was called in out of the bullpen in the sixth and got the Longhorns out of the inning. The Aggies hit a second solo homer in the seventh inning to go up 2-0. Witt got three straight strikeouts to end the inning without any more damage done and finished with five strikeouts in two innings pitched.
Cole Quintanilla came out of the bullpen with one out in the eighth and got a pair of strikeouts to end the inning.
