No. 2 Texas Women’s Tennis sweeps UTSA, 7-0

The Longhorns improve to 9-1 in dual-match play this spring.
AUSTIN, Texas — The No. 2 University of Texas women's tennis team earned a 7-0 sweep against UTSA (5-5) on Thursday afternoon at the Texas Tennis Center. With the victory, the Longhorns improved to 9-1 in dual-match play this spring.
Texas claimed a 1-0 advantage by taking the doubles point for the ninth time in its first 10 dual matches this spring. The freshman tandem of Charlotte Chavatipon and Malaika Rapolu, paired together for the just the second time this year and first in dual-match play, earned a 6-0 victory on court 3 against Alexandra Weir and Catalina Cabrique.
The No. 48-ranked duo of seniors Anna Turati and Fernanda Labraña broke a 2-2 tie and won four straight games en route to a 6-2 victory on court 1 over Aleksandra Zlatarova and Sophie Omoworare to clinch the doubles point. Turati and Labraña improved to a perfect 8-0 in dual-match doubles action this spring. The pair of freshman Kylie Collins and senior Marta Perez Mur, playing together for the first time, completed the doubles sweep with a 6-3 win on court 2 against Jasmin Starr and Keegan McCain.
Texas followed in singles play by capturing all six matches in straight sets. Collins earned a 6-1, 6-1 win on court 3 against Weir, and Perez Mur posted a 6-0, 6-1 victory on court 6 over Omoworare. Rapolu improved to 11-2 in singles play overall this year and clinched the dual-match win with a 6-2, 6-2 victory on court 4 against Cabrique.
No. 125-ranked Chavatipon moved to 12-1 overall (9-1 dual-match) in singles with her 6-0, 6-2 win on court 2 over Zlatarova, and No. 5-ranked Turati added a 6-0, 6-3 victory against Starr on court 1. Labraña finished off the sweep with a 6-1, 6-2 win on court 5 over McCain.
UT returns to action when it travels to face No. 15 Baylor in a non-conference match on Saturday, March 6. First serve is set for 1 p.m. Central at Hurd Tennis Center.
