Tara Davis and Micaiah Harris ran the fastest all-condition times in school history on a fast Saturday for the Longhorns in Louisiana.
BATON ROUGE, La. – The No. 7/5 Texas Track and Field program, led by all-conditions best times from Tara Davis and Micaiah Harris, wrapped up the LSU Alumni Gold with some of the top marks in school history on Saturday.
Davis, the collegiate record holder in the women's indoor and outdoor long jump, ran the fastest all-conditions time ever by a Longhorn in the 100-meter hurdles, clocking 12.61 en route to a second-place finish. Davis' time was a wind-aided mark (+2.6) preventing her from claiming another school record, but it was still fast enough to move her up to No. 2 on the NCAA leaderboard this year.
Harris, the school's 200-meter record holder indoor and outdoor, ran the fastest 200-meter dash of his collegiate career, clocking 20.08 while earning a second-place finish in Baton Rouge. He was aided by a +2.4 wind reading, preventing him from lowering his own Texas school record (20.09). Still, his time stands as the fastest by a Longhorn in all conditions.
In the women's javelin, Rhiley Fritz upped her season-best mark to 52.96m/173-9 to pick up a third-place finish on Saturday. Fritz's mark moves her up to No. 3 in Texas history, behind only Niki Nye (55.63m) and school-record holder Haley Crouser (55.65m) on UT's top performers list. Her throw was the eighth-farthest on record by a Longhorn.
Texas' 4x100-meter relay team took third place in the women's race behind a time of 43.11, the 10th-fastest by a Longhorn quartet. The team was made up by Serenity Douglas, Kevona Davis, Rhasidat Adeleke and Kynnedy Flannel.
Next up for the Longhorns is their final home meet of the 2021 season next weekend when they host the Texas Invitational at Mike A. Myers Stadium on Friday and Saturday, April 31-May 1.
