Six Longhorns to compete in 2021 U.S. Open Championship

Pierceson Coody, Frittelli, Hammer, Scheffler, Spieth and Vegas will play at Torrey Pines beginning Thursday morning.
SAN DIEGO, Calif. — Two current and four former University of Texas men's golfers will compete in the 2021 U.S. Open Championship at Torrey Pines Golf Course this week. Seniors Pierceson Coody and Cole Hammer will join former Longhorns Dylan Frittelli, Scottie Scheffler, Jordan Spieth and Jhonattan Vegas in the prestigious tourney on Thursday, June 17 through Sunday, June 20.
UT's total of six competitors is tied for the second-highest number of representatives by college in the 156-player field this week. Georgia has eight, while both Texas and Arizona State have six.
All four rounds will be televised live with coverage split between NBC and Golf Channel. In addition to the network broadcasts, Peacock (NBCUniversal's new streaming service) will carry nearly three hours of exclusive coverage of the first two rounds.
