Women’s Tennis puts four singles players, one doubles pair into rounds of 16 at ITA Texas Regionals

All four singles players for the Longhorns won two straight-sets matches on Friday to advance.
Waco, Texas – Texas Women's Tennis sent four singles players and one doubles pair to the rounds of 16 at the ITA Texas Regionals in Waco on Friday. All four singles players secured two straight-sets wins during the day to advance, while the doubles tandem posted one victory to move on.
The four singles players included graduate 1 seed No. 18 Tanya Sasnouskaya, senior 3 seed No. 74 Charlotte Chavatipon, senior 4 seed No. 99 Malaika Rapolu, and sophomore 10 seed Vivian Ovrootsky.
Sasnouskaya downed Maryjoe Crisologo of Abliene Christian, 6-0, 6-2, and Arina Oreshchenkova of Texas Tech, 6-3, 6-0, while Chavatipon defeated Naomi McKenzie of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 6-2, 6-0, and Martha Makantasi of Tarleton, 6-1, 6-3. Rapolu then topped Felicia Back of Stephen F. Austin, 6-4, 6-1, and Emma Persson of Tarleton, 6-0, 6-2, with Ovrootsky moving past Libby Blair of Abilene Christian, 6-3, 6-0, and Ellie Pittman of Texas A&M, 6-4, 6-2.
Later in the day in doubles, the 2 seed of Sasnouskaya and junior Sabina Zeynalova partnered for an 8-2 win over Vittoria Baccino and Magda Tuells of UTSA. The 3 seed of Rapolu and Ovrootsky suffered the lone defeat of the day, 8-3, to Aleksandra Zlatarova and Cassie Mclay of the Roadrunners, but then rebounded in the consolation draw by the same score over Kayal Gownder and Avery Esquivel of Texas A&M.
Next up, all four singles players will take the court at 9 a.m. CT with Sasnouskaya playing Destinee Martins of TCU, Chavatipon facing Sarina Reinertsen of UT-Arlington, Rapolu playing Andreea Lila of Texas Tech, and Ovrootsky taking on 7 seed #113 Mariya Polishchuk, also of the Red Raiders.
Doubles will then begin at approximately 12:30 p.m. CT with Sasnouskaya and Zeynalova facing 10 seed Sydney Fitch and Daria Smetannikov of Texas A&M, while Rapolu and Ovrootsky will play Crisologo and Blair of Abilene Christian in the consolation draw.
