Porter Brown hit a go-ahead three-run homer in the eighth inning to give the Longhorns a 4-2 win over Indiana.

AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Baseball rallied for a 4-2 win over Indiana, as Porter Brown hit a go-ahead three-run homer in the eighth inning on Friday night at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.

The Longhorns (2-3) trailed 2-1 going into the bottom of the eighth before Eric Kennedy started the inning with a double and Dylan Campbell walked to put two runners on. With a 2-1 count, Brown delivered the clutch go-ahead bomb out to right-center field.

Chris Stuart picked up the win in relief, going 2.1 scoreless and hitless innings. He came into the game with two runners on and two outs in the seventh and got out of the jam. He only allowed one base runner and struck out one batter.

Lucas Gordon started and pitched 5.2 innings, allowing one run on four hits. He struck out seven batters and issued three walks.

Kennedy went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored, while Brown was 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run scored.

After four scoreless innings from both teams, Indiana broke up the shutout with a run in the top of the fifth. The Hoosiers started the inning with an infield single and a hit batter, before a sacrifice bunt and a sacrifice fly to drive in the run.

The Longhorns tied the game up 1-1 in the bottom of the sixth on a sacrifice fly of their own. Dylan Campbell walked to start to the inning and went first-to-third on a single by Brown. Garret Guillemette drove in the tying run with a sacrifice fly to left field.

Indiana took the lead right back in the top of the seventh, using three-straight two-out singles off of reliever Heston Tole.

The Longhorns and Hoosiers will square off in Game 2 of the series on Saturday at 1 p.m. at UFCU Disch-Falk Field and the series finale is scheduled for Sunday at noon.
