Track & Field wins four events on Thursday at Texas Relays

Leo Neugebauer and Jeremiah Nubbe break UT program records in second day of the Texas Relays.
AUSTIN, Texas – Records fell and four Texas Longhorns were crowned champions on the second day of the 95th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays presented by Truist.
Leo Nuegebauer defended his 2022 Texas Relays decathlon title with both a Texas and Texas Relays record score of 8,475 points. His score made Neugebauer the No. 5 collegian all-time, the third-best wind legal performer and moved him into the top-10 list for German performances.
The four-time All-American entered day two of the competition with a 260-point lead. He began the first day with personal best marks in the 100-meter (10.75) and the shot put (16.66m) before making a run at his title.
The NCAA 2022 decathlon runner-up began the day with a personal best time of 14.33 in the 110-meter hurdles and followed with a winning-throw of 52.65m (172-9) in the discus. He continued his stellar weekend with a personal best clearance of 5.10m (16-8.75) in the pole vault and added a throw of 51.92m (170-4) in javelin leading into the final 1500-meter event. He finished the day with a time of 4:50.31 to defend his decathlon title and met the new world standard mark.
Neugebauer became the first collegian to win back-to-back Texas Relays decathlons since Trey Hardee did in 2005-06.
Freshman Jeremiah Nubbe claimed his own Texas program record on his final attempt in the men's hammer throw. The throw of 69.65m (228-6) took down Dylan Armstrong's 22-year program record set in 2001 at the NCAA Championships.
Kristine Blazevica added a runner-up performance in the women's heptathlon after scoring 5,683 points. Her performance ranks as the 11th-best performance in Texas history and was her fifth-best performance in the event.
All-American Valery Tobias got the distance carnival going winning the 800-meter invitational with her time of 2:03.59. Brooke Jaworski was close behind in second place with her time of 2:05.37, followed by Rachel Helbling who was just off her personal best time in 2:07.60 to finish fourth. Amity Ebarb rounded out the Longhorn competitors finishing ninth with a personal best time of 2:08.54.
Three Longhorns finished in the top-10 of the men's 800-meter invitational led by NCAA Indoor 800m champion Yusuf Bizimana who finished fourth with a time of 1:46.83. In fifth, Jonathan Jones finished with a time of 1:47.28, while Camron Herron was sixth with a personal best time of 1:47.97. It's the second straight competition Herron has set a new personal best.
Cruz Gomez was the next Texas Relays champion for the Longhorns winning the 1500-meter A section with his time of 3:43.10. The time ranks as the second-best performance in his collegiate career.
Isaac Alonzo was the final Texas Relays champion for Texas in the final event featuring the Horns as he won the men's 5000-meter with a time of 14:04.14. Alonzo's win makes it three-straight Texas wins in the 5K for the Longhorns after Bizimana won in 2021 and Yaseen Abdalla in 2022.
