No. 9/11 Softball has a ‘Day’ en route to two wins

Courtney Day homers twice in Texas’ come-from-behind win over RV/No. 24 Louisiana, Longhorns ease around Tennessee State
AUSTIN, TX – The friendly confines of Red & Charline McCombs Field were just that to Texas on Friday night as the homestanding Longhorns picked up a pair of victories on the day with a 9-3 win over Tennessee State before coming from behind to knock off RV/No. 24 Louisiana 6-2.
The longball factored into both Texas wins after Leighann Goode connected on a 1-0 pitch in the bottom of the second inning against Tennessee State for a two-run home run — her fourth home run in as many games — to highlight a five-run frame. The Longhorns went on to add a pair two innings later, before plating single runs in the fifth and sixth innings.
After RV/No. 24 Louisiana took a two-run lead into the bottom of the fourth, Courtney Day sent a 2-1 pitch 280 feet from home plate for a game-tying two-run home run. An inning later, after Viviana Martinez pushed the Longhorns ahead with an infield single, Day sent a 2-2 pitch 264 feet off the stadium's videoboard in centerfield to extend Texas' lead to four, which was the run support Citlaly Gutierrez (4-1) needed the rest of the way.
FROM HEAD COACH MIKE WHITE
"Oh, without a doubt the game against Louisiana felt like a regional-type matchup here early in the season. (Louisiana head) Coach (Gerry) Glasco has a great team over there. They're well coached year in and year out and are always competitive. They're playing a tough schedule this year. They have some great pitching and an explosive offense, so I thought we did a really good job of being able to find a way to win that game tonight."
