No. 11 Men’s Golf in fifth after day one at Augusta Haskins Award Invitational

Second-round suspended due to darkness with Texas thru holes 10-12 and will resume Sunday at 7:15 a.m. Central.
AUGUSTA, Ga. — The No. 11 Texas Men's Golf team registered a team score of 4-under-par on Saturday to rest in fifth place after the opening day at the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational at Forest Hills Golf Club. Second-round play was suspended due to darkness and will resume at 7:15 a.m. Central (8:15 a.m. Eastern) on Sunday, and the third and final round will be played immediately following the conclusion of the second round.
No. 12 Florida holds the lead in the team standings at 21-under-par, while No. 19 Virginia and No. 5 Illinois are tied for second at 16-under-par. Texas registered a 4-under-par 284 in Saturday's opening round and was even-par as a team thru holes 10-12 in the second round when play was halted. The 15-team field features six teams in the latest Bushnell/Golfweek Division I Coaches poll (Mar. 24).
A trio of Texas players are tied for 13th place in the individual standings at 2-under-par, including graduate Brian Stark, freshman Christiaan Maas and freshman Jacob Sosa. Adrien Dumont de Chassart of Illinois holds the individual lead at 9-under-par and is followed by a quartet of players at 7-under-par.
The Lineup
- Freshman Christiaan Maas is tied for 13th place at 2-under-par thru 12 holes into his second round. Maas posted a 3-under-par 69 in his opening round, making four birdies without a bogey on the back nine. He was 3-over thru his first 10 holes in his second round before going birdie-birdie on holes 14 and 15 (his final two holes played on Saturday).
- Graduate Brian Stark is tied for 13th at 2-under-par thru 12 holes into his second round. Stark registered a 1-under-par 71 in his opening round, making three birdies against two bogeys. He was even-par thru his first 11 holes in his second round before making birdie on hole 15 (his final hole played on Saturday).
- Freshman Jacob Sosa is also tied for 13th at 2-under-par thru 10 holes into his second round. Sosa recorded an even-par 72 in his opening round. He was 1-over thru his first eight holes, before making an eagle on hole 14 (par-four) and birdie on hole 15 (his final two holes played on Saturday).
- Freshman Tommy Morrison is tied for 36th at 2-over-par thru 11 holes into his second round. Morrison made five birdies and carded an even-par 72 in his opening round.
- Senior Travis Vick is tied for 45th at 4-over-par thru 12 holes into his second round. Vick posted five birdies and registered an even-par 72 in his opening round.
