No. 13 Men’s Golf concludes day one at Big 12 Championship

Stark fires a 36-hole score of 1-over-par and is tied for sixth in the individual standings.
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The No. 13 Texas Men's Golf team carded a 36-hole score of 17-over-par 577 (289-288) on Monday to rest in fifth place after the opening day at the Big 12 Championship at Prairie Dunes Country Club. Graduate Brian Stark fired a 1-over-par 141 (69-72) and is tied for sixth after the opening two rounds.
No. 12 Oklahoma holds the 36-hole lead in the team standings after posting a 6-under-par 554 (275-279) on Monday. No. 22 Oklahoma State is second at 6-over-par 566 (288-278), while No. 3 Texas Tech is third at 10-over-par 570 (286-284). The Longhorns are just one stroke behind TCU, who sits in fourth place at 16-over-par 576 (292-284).
Oklahoma State's Jonas Baumgartner owns the individual lead after the first 36 holes with a two-round total of 9-under-par 131 (67-64). Ludvig Aberg of Texas Tech is second at 7-under-par 133 (67-66), while Oklahoma's Drew Goodman is third at 3-under-par 137 (67-70). Only five individuals in the tournament's field of 50 players recorded a score of par or better following the completion of the opening two rounds.
The Big 12 Championship continues with 18 holes on Tuesday, April 25 and concludes with 18 holes on Wednesday, April 26. Texas will be paired with West Virginia for Tuesday's third round, and tee times will begin at 8 a.m. Central off the 1st tee.
The Lineup
- Graduate Brian Stark registered a 36-hole total of 1-over-par 141 (69-72) on Monday and is tied for sixth in the individual standings. In his opening round on Monday morning, Stark made a double bogey on the second hole but recovered to post an eagle (on the par-five 7th hole), two birdies, 12 pars and just one bogey over his final 16 holes to record a 1-under 69. He returned to tally three birdies during his afternoon round of 2-over 72.
- Senior Mason Nome posted a two-round score of 3-over-par 143 (72-71) on Monday and is tied for 14th place. After recording a 2-over 72 in his morning round, he carded two birdies and 13 pars against three bogeys during his afternoon round of 1-over 71.
- Freshman Christiaan Maas fired a 36-hole total of 5-over-par 145 (70-75) on Monday and is tied for 19th. Maas tallied five birdies during his morning round of even-par 70.
- Freshman Jacob Sosa posted a two-round total of 11-over-par 151 (78-73) on Monday and is tied for 38th place. He registered a pair of birdies during his afternoon round of 3-over 73.
- Freshman Keaton Vo replaced Travis Vick in Monday's afternoon round and fired a 2-over-par 72. He recorded a pair of birdies during his round.
- Senior Travis Vick recorded an 8-over-par 78 in Monday's morning round.
