No. 13 Men’s Golf climbs to third after third round at Big 12 Championship

Longhorns card low team round of the day (5-under), Stark tied for third in the individual standings.
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The No. 13 Texas Men's Golf team fired the low team round of the day on Tuesday with a 5-under-par 275 to climb into third place after the second day at the Big 12 Championship at Prairie Dunes Country Club. Graduate Brian Stark carded a 3-under-par 67 on Tuesday and moved into a tie for third place in the individual standings with a 54-hole score of 2-under-par 208 (69-72-67).
The Longhorns began the day in fifth place after the tournament's first 36 holes were played on Monday. Texas was one of just two teams (Texas Tech, 1-under 279) to break par during Tuesday's third round.
No. 12 Oklahoma holds the 54-hole lead in the team standings with a three-round score of 2-under-par 838 (275-279-284), while No. 3 Texas Tech is second at 9-over-par 849 (286-284-279). Texas is just three shots back of the Red Raiders in third place with a 54-hole total of 12-over-par 852 (289-288-275).
Texas Tech's Ludvig Aberg, who registered a 7-under-par 63 in Tuesday's third round, owns the individual lead after 54 holes with a three-round total of 14-under-par 196 (67-66-63). Jonas Baumgartner of Oklahoma State is second at 7-under-par 203 (67-64-72).
Stark is tied for third place at 2-under-par 208 with Oklahoma's Patrick Welch (70-68-70). Senior Mason Nome moved up seven spots on the leaderboard after firing a 1-under-par 69 on Tuesday and is in seventh place with a three-round score of 2-over-par 212 (72-71-69).
The Big 12 Championship concludes with 18 holes on Wednesday, April 26. Texas will be paired with Oklahoma State for Wednesday's final round, and tee times will begin at 8:45 a.m. Central off the 1st tee. Big 12 Now on ESPN+ will provide live streaming coverage of Wednesday's final round beginning at 10:30 a.m. Central with Ryan Burr and Carl Paulson on the call.
The Lineup
- Graduate Brian Stark posted a 3-under-par 67 in Tuesday's third round and climbed up three spots into a tie for third place in the individual standings with a 54-hole score of 2-under-par 208 (69-72-67). Stark was 3-under at the turn after a birdie on hole 6 and an eagle on the par-five 7th hole. He moved to 4-under with a birdie on 12 before making his only bogey of the day on hole 13 and closed his round with five-straight pars. Stark is one of just five individuals in the 50-player field to enter Wednesday's final round with an under-par three-round total.
- Senior Mason Nome fired a 1-under-par 69 on Tuesday and moved up seven spots into seventh place with a three-round total of 2-over-par 212 (72-71-69). Nome was 1-over through his first 16 holes before going birdie-birdie on holes 17 and 18 to finish at 1-under in his third round.
- Freshman Christiaan Maas registered an even-par 70 in his third round and moved up five spots into a tie for 14th at 5-over-par 215 (70-75-70). Maas was 1-over through his first 15 holes before making a birdie on hole 16 and finishing with back-to-back pars to close at even-par on Tuesday. Earlier in the day, Maas was one of 12 players named to the International Team at the upcoming 2023 Arnold Palmer Cup.
- Freshman Keaton Vo, who replaced Travis Vick in the lineup prior to Monday's second round, carded a 1-under-par 69 on Tuesday and holds a 36-hole score of 1-over-par 141 (72-69). Vo recorded three birdies on his front nine and made the turn at 2-under. He dropped to 1-over through 17 holes before making an eagle on the closing par-four 18th hole to finish at 1-under.
- Freshman Jacob Sosa posted a 4-over-par 74 on Tuesday and is tied for 37th with a three-round total of 15-over-par 225 (78-73-74). Sosa's third round was highlighted by an eagle on the par-five 7th hole.
