No. 13 Men’s Golf takes fourth at Big 12 Championship

Stark records the round of the day with a 4-under 66 to place third in the individual standings.
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The No. 13 Texas Men's Golf team posted an 11-over-par 291 in Wednesday's fourth and final round to place fourth at the Big 12 Championship at Prairie Dunes Country Club. Graduate Brian Stark had the low round of the day among the 50-player individual field with a 4-under-par 66 and finished third in the individual standings with a 72-hole score of 6-under-par 274 (69-72-67-66).
The Longhorns concluded the three-day event with a four-round total of 23-over-par 1,143 (289-288-275-291). No. 12 Oklahoma earned the team championship with a 1-under-par 1,119 (275-279-284-281), while TCU took second at 17-over-par 1,137 (292-284-282-279). No. 3 Texas Tech finished two strokes in front of Texas in third at 21-over-par 1,141 (286-284-279-292).
Texas Tech's Ludvig Aberg claimed individual medalist honors with a four-round total of 15-under-par 265 (67-66-63-69). Jonas Baumgartner of Oklahoma State placed second at 7-under-par 273 (67-64-72-70), while Stark placed third just one stroke behind Baumgartner at 274.
Stark earned Big 12 Championship All-Tournament team recognition as one of the top 10 finishers in the field. His third-place showing marked his best finish as a Longhorn, topping his tie for fourth at the Valspar Collegiate Invitational (Mar. 27-28).
Texas will learn its draw in the upcoming NCAA Regionals during the Division I Men's Golf selection show on Wednesday, May 3. The show will be televised nationally at 12 p.m. Central on Golf Channel.
The Lineup
- Graduate Brian Stark posted the low individual round of the day in the 50-player field with a bogey-free 4-under-par 66 on Wednesday to place third with a 72-hole score of 6-under-par 274 (69-72-67-66). Stark recorded three consecutive birdies at 6, 7 and 8 to make the turn at 3-under and then added a birdie on the par-five 17th hole. This marked his best individual finish as a Longhorn, topping his tie for fourth at the Valspar Collegiate Invitational (Mar. 27-28). In six stroke-play appearances this spring, Stark has registered two top-five and three top-10 individual finishes. He has shot par or better in 12 of his 19 stroke-play rounds this spring, including eight rounds in the 60s.
- Senior Mason Nome fired a 6-over-par 76 on Wednesday to tie for 12th with a four-round total of 8-over-par 288 (72-71-69-76). Nome was 9-over through his first 15 holes closing out his round with three-straight birdies.
- Freshman Christiaan Maas registered a 4-over-par 74 in his final round to tie for 15th place at 9-over-par 289 (70-75-70-74). He recorded four birdies during Wednesday's round. During his 10 stroke-play appearances this season, Maas has posted five top-10 and nine top-20 individual finishes.
- Freshman Keaton Vo, who replaced Travis Vick in the lineup prior to Monday's second round, carded a 5-over-par 75 on Wednesday to finish with a 54-hole score of 6-over-par 216 (72-69-75).
- Freshman Jacob Sosa posted a 6-over-par 76 in his final round to place 39th at 21-over-par 301 (78-73-74-76).
