Texas looks for 20th all-time victory against Oklahoma
AUSTIN, Texas – Returning to the friendly confines of the Forty Acres in Austin, The University of Texas women's soccer program will look for its 10th win on the season when the Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners meet on the pitch at Mike A. Myers Stadium at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10.
TELEVISION: Mike Watts (play by play) and Jill Loyden (analyst) will serve as the announcers for Thursday night's SEC Network broadcast.
SERIES HISTORY:
- Thursday night, Texas will be looking for its 20th all-time victory over Oklahoma dating back to the first-ever meeting between the two women's soccer program on Sept. 26, 1997.
- The Longhorns are 10-2-1 all time against the Sooners in matches played in Austin.
- UT has won the last three consecutive matches played on the Forty Acres and last four straight in the Lone Star State after the two met in Round Rock on Oct. 31, 2021, as part of the Big 12 Conference's postseason tournament.
- Since taking over at the helm of the Texas program prior to the 2012 season, Angela Kelly is 10-3-1 against Oklahoma as the Longhorns' head coach.
- With the Longhorns' football program set to play Oklahoma in Dallas on Saturday, Oct. 12, Thursday's match will mark the first time since Oct. 7 and Oct. 8, 2011, that The University of Texas' football and women's soccer programs will play Oklahoma in the same week.
- Thursday's match will mark the sixth all-time match for Lauren Lapomarda against the Oklahoma Sooners.
- Lapomarda appeared in a Sept. 25 match as a true freshman in 2020, when she played 18 minutes, before playing all 90 minutes in two 2021 matches and then all 90 minutes, again, the following season in 2022. She played just 45 minutes against the Sooners last season.
- In five career matches against Oklahoma, Lapomarda has played 333 of a possible 450 minutes (or 74.0 percent).
- Lapomarda appeared in a Sept. 25 match as a true freshman in 2020, when she played 18 minutes, before playing all 90 minutes in two 2021 matches and then all 90 minutes, again, the following season in 2022. She played just 45 minutes against the Sooners last season.
- During a 4-3 Longhorn win in Norman on Sept. 26, 2021, then-freshman Lexi Missimo tied a 19-year program record by being credited with four assists in the match.
- Prior to the match, Katie McBain was the last Longhorn to achieve the feat on Oct. 11, 2002 against Texas Tech.
- Missimo has since gone on to achieve the feat two more times, becoming the only women's soccer student-athlete in program with three four-assist matches.
KICKING OFF:
- When she takes the pitch at Mike A. Myers Stadium against the Oklahoma Sooners on Thursday night, fifth-year senior Lauren Lapomarda will become the first-ever women's soccer student-athlete in program history to appear in 92 career matches on the Forty Acres.
- Lapomarda will break a four-way tie with Emily Anderson (2006-09), Kasey Moore (2005-08) and Amy Burlingham (2003-06) for the most career matches played in program history.
- With her next assist, Lexi Missimo will become just the 12th Division I women's soccer student-athlete to be credited with 60-or-more assists throughout a collegiate career.
- Notre Dame's Kerri Hanks was the last to reach the milestone during a 15-assist senior season throughout the 2008 campaign.
- Hanks finished her four-year career (2005-08) as the only Division I women's soccer student-athlete with 80-or-more goals (84) with 73-or-more (73) assists.

- A win over Oklahoma on Thursday evening would mark the 16th consecutive match for Texas at Mike A. Myers Stadium without a loss, which would become the second-longest home unbeaten streak in program history.
- The program record is 21 set from Aug. 31, 2007 to Oct. 31, 2008.
