No. 2 Men's Swimming & Diving defeats No. 4 Indiana 97-89 in Bowman's inaugural home meet

The Longhorns also defeat Indiana in combined dual meet, 212-105.
AUSTIN, Texas – The No. 2 Texas Men's Swimming and Diving team defeated No. 4 Indiana, 97-89, in the first home dual meet under Director of Swimming and Diving and head men's coach Bob Bowman on Friday.
David Johnston began the winning ways for the Longhorns by defeating Zalan Sarkany, the 2023 NCAA 1650 free champion, with his time of 8:39.25. The time ranks as the second-fastest time in UT history behind Clark Smith's record of 8:33.93 set in 2015. Rex Maurer was third with a time of 8:44.62 – the sixth-fastest time in school history.
Senior Luke Hobson took home first place in the 100 free with his time of 42.53, an NCAA-B cut time, while Camden Taylor was the runner-up in 42.70.
Logan Walker stormed to the wall in first in the 200 butterfly with his time of 1:41.70 (NCAA-B). He climbed to the No. 9 performer on the UT All-Time list with his winning performance.
Maurer came back to win the 400 IM with his time of 3:40.90, leading Texas with the top-four finishes. Maurer's time moved him to No. 7 on the UT All-Time Performer list and narrowly missed the NCAA-A cut time. Johnston was the runner-up with a time of 3:43.81, while Landon D'Ariano was third in 3:44.86 and Ben Sampson next in 3:46.81. \
Texas relays was later in full swing when Will Modglin, Nate Germonprez, Hubert Kos and Hobson combined to win the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:03.69. It's the 13th fastest time in school history and met the NCAA-A cut time.
On the diving side, Jacob Jones was the top performer on the 1-meter scoring 343.20 points, while Tanner Braunton was the best for UT on 3-meter with 394.95 points. Both finished third respectively.
The marquee dual meet saw the men combine with women and defeat Indiana, 212-105.
Modglin, Germonprez, Kos and Camden Taylor began the night with a lightning time of 1:23.58 to win the 200 medley relay. Not only did it meet the NCAA-A cut, but matched the 22nd fastest time in school history. Ben Sampson, Will Scholtz, Logan Walker and Garrett Gould were the runners-up in 1:24.82.
Hobson added his second individual win of the day in the 200 free with a time of 1:31.86, just off the A-cut time. Maurer was second in 1:32.13 and later won the 500 free with a time of 4:11.20 and now sits at No. 9 on the all-time performer list.
Kos was then able to add a win in the 100 fly with his time of 44.93, moving to No. 6 on the all-time performer list and matched the 20th fastest time in school history. He recorded his final win in the 200 IM at 1:40.51 with an NCAA-A cut time, which also moved him to No. 4 on the all-time performer list.
Germonprez narrowly edged Brian Benzing out in the 100 breast with his winning time of 51.60 to move to No. 4 on the UT all-time list. Modlgin was the final individual winner with a time of 44.82 in the 100 back.
Texas concluded its dominant performance with a 400 free mixed free relay win from Taylor, Hobson, Emma Sticklen and Erin Gemmel's time of 2:59.35.
