No. 4/4 Track and Field closes Eagle Invite with men's 4x400 school record

Texas earns four wins on final day of Eagle Invite.
BOSTON, Mass. – The No. 4/4 Texas track and field program competed at the Eagle Invite at the TRACK at New Balance and left with the men's 4x400 relay Texas program record.
The men of Logan Popelka, Elijah Mosley, John Rutledge and Brian Herron broke the two-year record with their time of 3:03.93. Herron is now part of two of the fastest times in school history. The women of Ackelia Smith, Dejanea Oakley, Kenondra Davis and Ziyah Holman posted the winning time of 3:29.80 and ranks as the 12th-fastest time in school history.
Texas won the men's 400-meter dash after Popelka ran a 46.66 to take the win just ahead of DeJuana McArthur of Oklahoma State. Chris Brinkley finished fourth with his time of 47.34. The women were led by Oakley who finished as the runner-up with a time of 52.69, while Holman was third in 52.73.
Kelsey Daniel took home first place in the men's triple jump with his jump of 16.07m (52-8.75). The mark currently ranks seventh in the NCAA and moved him to No. 8 on the UT All-Time Performer List.
Texas swept the shot put after Patrick Piperi threw for 18.07m (59-3.5) and Nina Ndubuisi at 17.88m (58-8) on the women's side. Ndubuisi's throw ranks at the No. 8 performance in school history.
Kiana Lowery finished third in the women's weight throw with a personal-best mark of 19.03m (62-5). Lowery's throw improved her No. 2 mark on the Texas All-Time performer list and ranks as the third-best performance in UT history. The men saw Jeremiah Nubbe finish second with his throw of 21.31m (69-11) – the No. 10 mark in Texas history.
On the runway, Jathan Belaire was the runner-up in the men's long jump at 7.62m (25-0), Solomon Washington was third at 7.48m (24-6.5) and \ Daniel was fourth at 7.44m (24-5).
Kaeli Thompson matched her personal-best in pole vault, clearing 4.12m (13-6.25), while Sasha Harber cleared 3.72m (12-2.5).
Back on the track, Yusuf Bizimana won the 600-meter run with a time of 2:16.41. Haftu Knight later led the distance men in the 5,000-meter with his time of 14:10.61. Sam Bass finished fifth in 14:16.71, shedding 21 seconds off his previous best time. Nigusom Knight was seventh with a seven-second PB at 14:23.72 and Trey Rios finished ninth in 14:38.87.
Isaac Alonzo led the men in the 3,000-meter with third-fastest time in UT history with a time of 7:53.72. Emmanuel Sguoros recorded a personal-best at 8:02.00. The women were led by Eva Jess at 9:25.99 (PB) and Elizabeth Pickett (9:39.39).
Later the men's milers were led by freshmen Chris Riley who finished in 4:09.00 and Jack Boyd who finished in 4:10.13. Olivia Howell led the women in the mile with her time of 4:45.23 and Eva Jess finished 4:51.26.
Daniel Howells made his Texas debut in the 800-meter run and finished fifth in 1:48.60 and Cole Lindhorst finished 12th in 1:49.14.
Marcellus Moore closed out the sprints finishing third in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.64 and Nolton Shelvin was fifth in 6.68.
