No. 16 Baseball wins Alumni Game, 7-4

The Longhorns scored five runs in the sixth inning to rally for the win.
AUSTIN, Texas – No. 16 Texas Baseball scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth to rally for a 7-4 win over the Texas Exes in the Annual Alumni Game on Saturday at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
Peyton Powell hit a game-tying three-run homer as part of the five-run bottom of the sixth. Max Belyeu went 2-for-2 with two RBI and drove in the game-winning runs in the sixth.
For the Alumni team, Mike Antico went 2-for-3 with a double and one RBI and Murphy Stehly was 1-for-3 with a solo home run.
Sophomore RHP Cody Howard started and pitched three innings for the Alumni Team and was charged with just one unearned run. He allowed just one hit and struck out two batters.
The Texas Exes jumped out to a 3-0 lead, scoring three runs on three hits in the top of the first inning. Dylan Campbell got the scoring started with an RBI single to left field and Antico added to the lead with a double down the right field line.
The Longhorns responded with a run in the bottom of the first, with Jalin Flores driving in Jared Thomas with a sacrifice fly to make the score 3-1.
Stehly added to the Alumni Team's lead with a solo home run in the top of the fourth inning to give the Exes a 4-1 lead.
Texas then scored the five runs on five hits in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead. Casey Cummings finished off the game with a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh.
The Longhorns will open the 2024 season with a three-game series against San Diego, Feb. 16-18, at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
