No. 8 Women’s Golf takes down No. 24 Arizona State, No. 5 USC

PALOS VERDES ESTATES, Calif. — The No. 8 Texas women's golf team won 4-1 over No. 24 Arizona State and 3-2 over No. 5 USC on day one of the Therese Hession Regional Challenge on Saturday.
The Longhorns advance to the semifinals of the championship bracket after their victory over USC.
In the opening match, freshman Lauren Kim came back from down two through seven holes and won holes 8-10 to go 1 up through 10. Kim pulled off a 4&2 victory over 2022-23 First Team All-Pac 12 selection Grace Summerhays.
Freshman Farah O'Keefe was tied with four holes to play in her match and birdies the par-5 seventh hole and par-3 eighth hole to go 2 up and win 2&1. O'Keefe came back to win her second match against USC, 3&1.
Bohyun Park also went 2-0 on the day for the Longhorns. Park got out to a quick start in her match against Arizona State as she was 4 up thru seven holes and won 6&4. In her second match Park picked up a 2UP victory over 2023 WGCA and Golfweek All-America Honorable Mention selection Amari Avery of USC.
Angela Heo was tied with Shoemaker of USC through 14 holes. Heo made par on the sixth hole to take a 1UP lead in the match and put a point on the board for Texas with a 1UP victory.
Bentley Cotton gave the Longhorns early momentum in the match against Arizona State. Cotton made birdies on holes 15-18 and got out to a 5 up lead through her first six holes. Cotton would win her match 5&3.
