Baseball rallies for walk-off win over Air Force

The Longhorns scored two in the ninth and one in the 10th the pick up the win on Tuesday.
AUSTIN, Texas – Freshman infielder Dee Kennedy hit a 10th inning walk-off single to give Texas Baseball a 6-5 win over Air Force on Tuesday at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
The Longhorns (12-8) trailed 5-3 in the ninth inning before Jalin Flores hit a two-run homer to left field to tie the game up 5-5 and send it into extra-innings. Flores finished 3-for-5 with a homer, two RBI and one run scored.
Texas and Air Force will square off again on Tuesday at 4 p.m. at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
In the bottom of the 10th inning, Porter Brown walked and Max Belyeu was hit by a pitch to put two runners on base. After a pitching change, Jared Thomas lined a single to left field to load the bases and then Kennedy came through with the game-winner to center field.
Thomas had a big day at the plate, going 4-for-6 with two doubles, one RBI and one run scored.
Gage Boehm pitched a scoreless top of the 10th inning, turning a 1-6-3 double play, and picked up his first win of the season.
Chase Lummus had his longest outing of the season, pitching 3 1/3 innings out of the bullpen and allowing just one unearned run on two hits with four strikeouts. Heston Tole pitched 1 1/3 scoreless out of the bullpen, while Andre Duplantier II pitched two innings and allowed one run on two hits.
Air Force scored two runs in the top of the first off of a pair of hits and three free passes. A lineout double play ended the inning without any more damage done.
Texas got a run back in the bottom of the first after Thomas started the game with a double, moved to third on a fly ball and scored on an RBI groundout by Peyton Powell.
The Falcons scored another run in the second to up the lead to 3-1 but the Longhorns turned another double play to get out of the jam.
The Longhorns got another run back in the second inning on an RBI double by Thomas, his second double of the game, to cut the lead to 3-2.
Air Force extended its lead to 4-2 with an unearned run off of Lummus in the sixth before Texas cut the lead back to one run in the seventh with Jack O'Dowd driving in Powell with an RBI groundout.
The Falcons tacked on another run in the top of the ninth to extend the lead to 5-3 but the resilient Longhorns battled back in the bottom half.
