No. 15 Baseball drops wild game to Texas State

The Longhorns hit a go-ahead homer in the eighth before giving up a game-winning homer in the ninth.
HOUSTON, Texas – No. 15 Texas Baseball lost a wild back-and-forth game to Texas State, 11-10, on Saturday in the Astros Foundation College Class at Minute Maid Park.
The Longhorns (7-3) will look to salvage the weekend against Vanderbilt on Sunday at 11 a.m.
Porter Brown hit a go-ahead home run in the bottom of the eighth, his first of the season, to give Texas a 10-9 lead. The Bobcats had an answer though, just as they did all game, hitting a two-out two-run game-winning homer in the top of the ninth.
Jack O'Dowd also hit his first homer of the season, a pinch-hit go ahead three-run shot in the seventh.
Max Belyeu went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an RBI triple, while Jalin Flores was 1-for-4 with his fifth homer of the season.
Texas State led off the ballgame with a solo home run to right field in the top of the first. The Bobcats added to the lead in the second with five more runs, including a grand slam to take a 6-0 lead.
The Longhorns got three runs back in the bottom of the third, taking advantage of two walks, two hit batters and an error. Flores and Kimble Schuessler both drove in runs with sacrifice flies in the inning.
The Bobcats got a run back in the top of the fourth to extend their lead to 7-3.
Texas hit a pair of solo homers in the fifth, from Flores and Belyeu, to trim the Bobcats' lead to 7-5.
Texas State yet again got a run right back with a pair of singles in the sixth to go up 8-5.
The Longhorns took their first lead of the game in the bottom of the seventh, scoring four runs on three hits to go up 9-8. Belyeu drove in the first run of the inning with an RBI triple to right-center. After a walk put two runners on, O'Dowd hit a pinch-hit three run homer to right field.
For the third time in the game, Texas State had an answer and tied the game up, 9-9, on a pair of singles in the top of the eighth inning.
Brown broke up the 9-9 deadlock with his solo homer to right field in the eighth but for the final time in the game the Bobcats answered and hit a two-run homer in the ninth to win it.
