Max Belyeu hit three home runs and drove in six RBI to lead the Longhorns to the series win.
AUSTIN, Texas – Texas baseball blasted four home runs and beat Baylor, 11-1, in eight innings to win the series on Sunday at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
The Longhorns (15-9, 4-2) were led by a pair of Max's as Max Belyeu hit three home runs and Max Grubbs tossed seven one-run innings on the mound.
Belyeu became the eighth Longhorn to hit three homers in a game, tying the Texas Baseball record. He finished 3-for-4 with six RBI and hit bombs in the first, fourth and eighth innings.
Grubbs put together another strong outing, pitching seven innings and allowing just one run on five hits. He struck out five batters and recorded his third win of the season.
Texas jumped all over Baylor with a five-spot in the first inning, including a pair of home runs. Jared Thomas started the game with a single, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Dee Kennedy and scored the game's first run on an RBI single by Peyton Powell. After a Jalin Flores double, Powell scored the second run on a wild pitch.
Kimble Schuessler then launched his third homer of the season, a two-run shot to left field. With two outs, Belyeu blasted a homer just to the left of the batter's eye in center to make it 5-0 in the first.
Belyeu hit his second homer of the game in the fourth inning, going over the monster in center field to make the score 6-0.
Baylor scratched out a run in the seventh with three singles off of Grubbs but he was able to limit the damage and keep the score 6-1.
The Longhorns ended the game early with five runs in the eighth inning. The inning started with three straight singles from Flores, Schuessler and Will Gasparino before Belyeu blasted a grand slam to right field.
Texas reloaded the bases on a walk by Rylan Galvan, a single by Porter Brown and a walk by Thomas before an RBI groundout ended the game via the 10-run mercy rule.
The Longhorns will close out their season-long 10-game homestand by hosting Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
