Baseball falls to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi

The Longhorns gave up a three-run third inning and were unable to mount a comeback.
AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Baseball dropped a midweek game to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 4-1, on Tuesday at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
The Longhorns (15-10, 4-3) will look to bounce back this weekend as they head to Manhattan, Kan. to face No. 23 Kansas State starting on Thursday at 6 p.m.
Jared Thomas and Porter Brown each had two hits in the game and Thomas scored the Longhorns' only run. Peyton Powell finished 1-for-3 and drove in the only run with a sacrifice fly.
The Islanders took an early 3-0 lead, hitting a three-run homer off of starter Cole Selvig in the second inning.
Thomas hit a two-out triple to right-center field for the Longhorns' first hit of the game in the third but he was stranded at third base to end the inning. Porter Brown doubled with two outs in the fifth but was left at second base.
A&M-Corpus Christi added to its lead with a run in the seventh inning off of Chase Lummus to up the lead to 4-0.
Texas threatened in the sixth, getting a pair of runners into scoring position with two outs but the Longhorns couldn't scratch out a run.
The Longhorns broke up the shutout in the eighth inning after Thomas led off the inning with a double and scored on a sacrifice fly by Peyton Powell.
