The Longhorns gave up a six-run fourth inning and were unable to rally.

AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Baseball gave up six runs in the fourth inning and were unable to mount a comeback, falling 7-3 to Texas State on Wednesday at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.

The Longhorns (20-14, 7-5) will head back on the road this weekend for a three-game Big 12 Conference series against Houston.

After homering twice in Tuesday's game against the Bobcats, Jared Thomas hit another homer on Wednesday night and finished 2-for-4 with one RBI in the game. Max Belyeu also went 2-for-4 and had an RBI double.

Easton Tumis started and pitched 3 1/3 innings, allowing three runs on just two hits and was charged with the loss. Andre Duplantier II had another effective outing, pitching 1 2/3 scoreless innings. Charlie Hurley pitched the final two scoreless frames out of the bullpen.

Texas State broke the game open in the fourth with a six-run inning, taking advantage of three walks and three hits. The Bobcats got a three-run homer in the inning to make the score 6-0.

The Longhorns got on the board in the fifth with two runs on two hits to trim the lead to 6-2. Thomas was hit by a pitch before Peyton Powell doubled to put two runners on. Thomas scored on a wild pitch and Powell scored on an RBI double by Belyeu.

The Bobcats tacked on an insurance run in the sixth inning after a leadoff walk came around to score on a sacrifice fly.

Thomas hit his third home run of the week in the seventh inning to cut the lead to 7-3 but that was all the scoring for Texas.
