No. 14/13 Track and Field closes out Mt. SAC Relays

Chrystal Herpin records lone Texas win on Saturday.
WALNUT, Calif. – The No. 14/13 Texas track and field team closed out the 64th Mt. SAC Relays on Saturday afternoon.
Junior Chrystal Herpin secured Texas' first win of the day in the women's shot put with her throw of 17.56m (57-7.50) on her fifth-round throw. Freshman Nina Ndubuisi was the runner-up with her throw of 17.30m (56-9.25), while senior Marilyn Nwora finished 10th with a throw of 15.83m (51-1.25).
Patrick Piperi was fourth in the men's elite shot put with a throw of 19.06m (62-6.50). Luke Partridge finished 15th with his throw of 58.34m (191-5) in the men's collegiate hammer event.
Jeremiah Nubbe closed out the field events for Texas by finishing sixth in the men's hammer with a throw of 70.62m (231-8).
Brian Herron later finished as the runner-up in the men's 400-meter elite event with his time of 45.48. Herron's time ranked as the fastest collegiate time of the afternoon. Yusuf Bizimana later ran the fourth-fastest 800-meter time at 1:46.18, marking the fastest collegian of the day. The time was also the eighth-fastest time in school history.
