Baseball falls to No. 3 Texas A&M in extra innings

The Longhorns gave up two runs in the top of the 11th to fall 4-2 in Game 2 of the NCAA College Station Regional.
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas Baseball dropped a hard-fought game, 4-2, to No. 3 Texas A&M in 11 innings in the NCAA College Station Regional on Saturday at Blue Bell Park.
The Longhorns (36-23) will now face an elimination game against Louisiana on Sunday at 2 p.m. The winner of that game will advance to face Texas A&M on Sunday at 7 p.m.
Lebarron Johnson Jr. battled for five innings, allowing just one run on two hits. He struck out eight batters and finished his night with big strikeout to get out of a jam in the fifth.
Gage Boehm pitched four incredible innings out of the bullpen, allowing just one hit and one unearned run with five strikeouts. Andre Duplantier II pitched 1 1/3 innings and allowed just one hit but was charged with two runs in the 11th.
Jared Thomas launched the first pitch of the game out to left-center field for his 16th home run of the season to give Texas an early 1-0 lead.
Texas A&M knotted the game up 1-1 in the top of the fifth with a solo home run of its own. Johnson was able to get a big strikeout to end the inning and keep the score tied.
Kimble Schuessler blasted his 10th home run of the season, a solo shot in the sixth inning to put Texas back in front 2-1. Schuessler went 2-for-5 at the plate with a double and a homer.
The Aggies came back and tied the game up in the eighth with an unearned run after a pair of errors in the inning.
The Longhorns had a great opportunity in the 10th inning after Will Gasparino walked to lead off the inning. Dee Kennedy sacrificed Gasparino into scoring position but the Longhorns were unable to drive in the run.
Texas A&M then plated the game-winning runs in the top of the 11th off of Duplantier and Chase Lummus.
