Baseball’s Johnson selected on day two of the MLB Draft

The 2024 MLB First-Year Player Draft will conclude on Tuesday with Rounds 11-20.
AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Baseball's Lebarron Johnson Jr. has been selected by the Colorado Rockies on Day 2 of the 2024 Major League Baseball Draft. Johnson joins fellow Longhorn Jared Thomas, who was selected by the Rockies in the second round on Sunday.
Last season Johnson made 15 starts on the mound and pitched in 17 games total, posting a 5.60 ERA with 84 strikeouts in 72.1 innings. In his final outing of the season in the NCAA Regional, he pitched five stellar innings with eight strikeouts against national runner-up Texas A&M.
For his career, the Jacksonville, Fla. product, pitched in 55 games and posted a 4.04 ERA with 11 wins and 203 strikeouts in 176 innings pitched. He had a breakout season in 2023 with an 8-4 record and a 2.91 ERA, highlighted by a one-run shutout of Miami in the second game of the NCAA Coral Gables Regional.
