The Longhorns move to 7-1 in dual meets this season after taking down the Aggies.
AUSTIN, Texas – No. 2 Texas Women's Swim and Dive recognized 11 student-athletes on Senior Day in its 197-102 win over No. 19 Texas A&M at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center Friday.
The Longhorns are now 7-1 in dual meets this season.
The Texas 'A' team (Bray, Enge, Arens, Longi) began the day with a win in the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:29.73, meeting the 'A' cut qualifying standard time for the NCAA Division I Swimming and Diving Championships. The Texas 'B' team (Berglund, Chase, Stoll, Kern) followed behind in third with a time of 3:33.11.
Lillie Nesty dominated the 1000 freestyle with a time of 9:35.01, the 11th fastest time in UT history, to move to No. 5 on the all-time best performer list. Erin Gemmell also added on a third-place finish with a time of 9:50.25.
Angie Coe (1:46.56), Kate Hurst (1:46.97), and Brooke Adams (1:46.26) continued to finish second, third, and fourth place in the 200 freestyle, respectively.
Senior Emma Sticklen secured a first-place finish in the 100 backstroke with a time of 52.04. Emma Kern finished behind her in third with a time of 52.65. Senior Oliva Bray then dominated the 200 butterfly to finish in first with a time of 1:52.68.
Texas continued to take the first two spots in both the 100 breaststroke and 50 freestyle. Senior Channing Hanley (1.00.66) and Lindsey Hosch (1:01.06) finished in first and second in the 100 breaststroke. Alexa Fulton (22.25) and senior Abby Arens (22.42) went 1-2 in the 50 freestyle.
Sticklen then led the Longhorns to a podium sweep in the 100 freestyle with her time of 48.03 to move to No. 10 on the all-time best performer list. Senior Grace Cooper (48.25) was the runner-up with Fulton (48.66) in third.
Berit Berglund added on a second-place finish in the 200 backstroke with her time of 1:56.99. Hosch (2:13.19) then placed second in the 200 breaststroke with Hanley (2:14.06) behind her in third.
Campbell Stoll picked up the victory in the 500 freestyle with her time of 4:42.18. Senior Olivia McMurray recorded a third-place finish, clocking in at 4:46.45.
Senior Ava Longi finished in second place with a time of 52.52 in the 100 butterfly with Nesty following her in third with a time of 52.62.
Texas swept the podium in the 200 individual medley with Arens (1:57.42) leading the pack in first. Gemmell (1:58.21) was the runner-up with Coe (1:59.76) behind in third.
Texas capped the day with a strong outing in the 200 freestyle relay. The Texas 'A' team (Sticklen, Cooper, Longi, Nesty) won with a time of 1:27.86, meeting the 'A' cut qualifying time. The Texas 'B' team (Schellenger, Fulton, Chase, Bray) was the runner-up with a time of 1:28.65.
Texas dominated the 3-meter platform, filling the podium with Alejandra Estudillo Torres taking first in her Longhorn debut (334.80), Bayleigh Cranford placing second (330.23), and Hailey Hernandez finishing in third (321.75).
Hernandez and Caroline Kupka also finished in first and second place on the 1-meter platform with their scores of 333.08 and 305.48.
