No. 1/2 Men’s and Women’s Swim and Dive slated to host Texas A&M, Sterkel Classic

The Longhorns will celebrate Senior Day vs. Texas A&M on Jan. 31 before hosting the Sterkel Classic on Feb. 1 at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.
AUSTIN, Texas – The No. 1 Texas men and No. 2 Texas women's swimming and diving programs will close out the regular season hosting Texas A&M at 3 p.m. CT Friday, Jan. 31, at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center before holding the Sterkel Classic at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1. The dual against the No. 17 (men's) and No. 19 (women's) Texas A&M Aggies will also double as Senior Day for the Longhorns.
Admission is free for both events. There will be no live stream available for either. On Saturday, UT will host Rice, SMU and TCU at the Sterkel Classic – a swim-only meet – that begins at 11 a.m.

Friday is for the Seniors
Prior to the dual vs. Texas A&M on Friday, Texas will begin its Senior Day festivities at 2:35 p.m., to honor 19 student-athletes:
Men's - Manny Borowski, Coby Carrozza (5th), Chris Guiliano, Luke Hobson, Jackson Huckabay, David Johnston, Nathan Quarterman and Ben Sampson (5th)
Women's - Ellie Andrews, Abby Arens (5th), Olivia Bray (5th), Grace Cooper (5th), Riley Courtney, Channing Hanley, Hailey Hernandez, Ava Longi (5th), Olivia McMurray, Ella Myers and Emma Sticklen (5th)
The Notebook
- No. 1 Texas men's swim and dive remains undefeated in dual meets this season after claiming three top-25 wins at the Eddie Reese Texas Showdown on Jan. 24-25 at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center. The Horns notched three dual meet wins, including a 193-159 win vs. No. 4 Arizona State, a 244.5-107.5 win over No. 6 NC State and a crushing 272-80 win against No. 18 Virginia. Texas won nine events over the two-day meet. The UT men improved to 7-0 in dual meets this season.
- The No. 2 Texas women's swim and dive team added two top-17 wins to their resume at the Eddie Reese Texas Showdown as well. The Longhorns recorded a 237-115 win vs. No. 8 NC State and a decisive 258-94 victory over No. 17 Arizona State. The Longhorn women sport a 6-1 dual meet record this season.
- At Day 1 of the Eddie Reese Texas Showdown on Jan. 24, the Longhorns set a dual meet attendance record with 2,331 fans inside the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.
- Rex Maurer leads both the Horns and the NCAA in the 500 and 1650 free and the 400 IM after sweeping all three events this past weekend.
- Emma Sticklen continues to dazzle after breaking her own program record in the 100 fly in a time of 49.55. The two-time defending NCAA champ in the 200 fly put on another show by winning that event easily in 1:49.87.
- Nick Harris was named the SEC's Diver of the Week on Jan. 28 after sweeping the 1 and 3-meter events at the Eddie Reese Texas Showdown. He won the 1-meter with a season-high score of 394.15 points while also claiming first in the 3-meter dive after scoring a season-best 411.55 points – the only competitor to surpass 400 points. Harris led Texas to sweep the top-three spots in both diving events at the Eddie Reese Texas Showdown.
- On the women's side, Hailey Hernandez was tabbed SEC Diver of the Week while Jillian Cox garnered the conference's Freshman of the Week accolade.
- Hernandez took first in the 1-meter and second in the 3-meter while earning 376 total points. The Southlake, Texas, product took first in the 1-meter with 344.95 points while scoring a season-high 333.30 points in the 3-meter to place second.
- Cox cruised to a victory in the 500 freestyle with an NCAA A-cut time of 4:31.97 for the second-fastest time in Texas history and the fourth-fastest time this season. She also touched the wall first in the 1650 free with an NCAA A-cut time of 15:41.49, the third-fastest time this season and the second-best time in program history. Cox finished the consolation final of the 200 free with an NCAA B-cut time of 1:45.02.
- The No. 2 Texas women have been led by Emma Sticklen who has broken seven school records this season and Jillian Cox who now holds the 500, 1000 and 1650 free school records. Emma Sticklen broke her own school record with a second-place finish in the 100 butterfly on Jan. 24, meeting the 'A' cut qualifying time with a time of 49.55.

- The No. 1 men recently added 2024 Olympian Chris Guiliano to the team who broke into the UT all-time top performer list in both the 50 free (19.04) and the 100 free (41.89) in his first meet as a Longhorn.
- Rex Maurer leads the NCAA in both the 500 free and the 1650 free and the 400 IM, David Johnston in the 1000 free, Will Modglin in the 100 and 200 back, Hubert Kos in the 200 IM, while the Longhorns also lead the country in the 800 free relay.
- Jillian Cox leads the country in the 500, 1000 and 1650 free, while Emma Sticklen posts the top time in the 200 fly.
- Alejandra Estudillo, a freshman, will be making her Longhorn debut on Friday. Hailing from Nuevo Leon, Mexico, Estudillo Competed at the 2024 Paris Olympics on 3-meter scoring 301.95 points.

Due to construction in the surrounding area, fans should access the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center via the pedestrian route on MLK Blvd. This provides direct access to the main entrance of the Texas Swimming Center.
