Rookie earns second career SEC weekly distinction.
AUSTIN, Texas — University of Texas standout Campbell McKean earned his second straight Southeastern Conference Freshman Swimmer of the Week honor, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
A native of Bend, Ore., McKean had a strong outing during the Texas Hall of Fame Swimming Invitational, highlighted by a runner-up finish on the 200-medley relay in 1:23.81 with a 22.51 split. The rookie also delivered a second-place showing in the 100 breaststroke in 50.37, which sits second in the country. McKean punctuated his award-winning effort a third-place finish in the 200 IM in 1:41.06 for the nation's fourth-fastest time and a fourth-place 200 breaststroke effort in 1:51.82, which also ranks fourth in the country.
The Longhorns' men's squad have taken home seven SEC weekly accolades in 2025: David Johnston (Oct. 14), Rafael Fente-Damers (Oct. 14) and Nick Harris (Oct. 14 & Oct. 28) and Rex Maurer (Oct. 28).
Texas resumes competition with the Eddie Reese Showdown on Jan. 23-24.
