GREENVILLE, S.C. — Madison Booker recorded her ninth career double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds while Taylor Jones and Rori Harmon combined for 28 points, but the Texas women's basketball team fell, 64-45 in the SEC Tournament championship game on Sunday.
During the first period, Texas trailed South Carolina, but Taylor Jones kept the Longhorns in the game by scoring four points in the post, bringing Texas to 12-10 heading into the second period.
Going into halftime, South Carolina led Texas 33-16. Harmon led the Longhorns in scoring with six points, while post-players Kyla Oldacre and Taylor Jones combined for eight.
To start the second half, Harmon opened the scoring with a turnaround jumper, followed by a second-chance basket from Jones, cutting South Carolina's lead to 33-20. Jones led the way for Texas, scoring 10 points in the period to bring her game total to 14, but the Longhorns still trailed 52-33 going into the fourth.
Texas stayed resilient in the final period, with Madison Booker hitting a reverse layup to record her ninth career double-double and her 27th double-figure scoring game of the season.
Up next, the Longhorns will await Selection Sunday for the NCAA Tournament on March 16.
