Longhorns win 10th straight contest behind six two-out runs
AUSTIN, Texas — No. 1 Texas extended its winning streak to 10 games, registering an 11-2 victory over Prairie View A&M on Tuesday night at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
Infielders Casey Borba and Kimble Schuessler both plated three runs, as the Longhorns (38-5) continued to build upon their best start since 2004.
Left fielder Easton Winfield put together his finest performance in burnt orange, notching his first homer as a Longhorn in a four-hit effort.
Borba, Winfield and center fielder Will Gasparino all homered to help Texas cap off the month of April with a 15-2 record.
As a team, the Longhorns scored six of their 11 runs with two outs against the Panthers (11-32), highlighted by Borba's three-run shot in the fifth.
Texas posted a six-spot on six hits in the frame, which marked the eighth time the Longhorns have batted around this season.
In the win, Texas used five pitchers, starting with southpaw Kade Bing (3-0).
Bing tossed three innings of one-run baseball on just 40 pitches to earn the victory.
Righty Hudson Hamilton shined out of the bullpen, pitching a season-long three hitless frames. Hamilton struck out a trio of batters, retiring nine of the 10 men he faced.
Relievers Aiden Moffett, Ethan Walker and Cody Howard each logged an inning to close out the Longhorns' perfect 4-0 homestand.
Up next, Texas hits the road to face No. 11 Arkansas at Baum-Walker Stadium. The three-game set is slated to begin at 6 p.m. Thursday.
