Texas will open SEC Tournament action on Thursday afternoon following double bye into quarterfinals.
ATHENS, Ga. – The University of Texas softball program will reap the benefits of a third-place regular season finish in the Southeastern Conference as the Longhorns received a double bye into the quarterfinals of the 2025 SEC Softball Tournament and will begin play at 4 p.m. CT / 5 p.m. ET on Thursday, May 8 against the winner of Florida and Ole Miss.
GAME SCHEDULE:
- Thursday, May 8 – 4 p.m. CT / 5 p.m. ET (SEC Network) – Quarterfinals
- Friday, May 9 – 5:35 p.m. CT / 6:35 p.m. ET (ESPN2) – Semifinals
- Saturday, May 10 – 4 p.m. CT / 5 p.m. ET (ESPN) – Championship
TELEVISION: Beth Mowins, Jessica Mendoza and Michele Smith will have the call of all three potential Longhorn softball games throughout the SEC Softball Tournament. Holly Rowe will serve as the sideline reporter as well for all Texas contests.
Thursday's game will be broadcast on the SEC Network, with a potential semifinal and championship appearance slated for ESPN2 and ESPN, respectively.

SERIES HISTORY:
- Texas has played only three current SEC softball programs during its postseason conference tournament history:
- Oklahoma
- Texas and Oklahoma have met in the last two consecutive Big 12 Conference Softball Tournament en route to 13 all-time meetings between the program during a postseason conference tournament.
- The Sooners hold a 9-4 all-time record against the Longhorns in a postseason conference tournament.
- The Longhorns last beat the Sooners in a postseason conference tournament on May 13, 2005, when Texas earned a 3-1 victory.
- Texas and Oklahoma have met in the last two consecutive Big 12 Conference Softball Tournament en route to 13 all-time meetings between the program during a postseason conference tournament.
- Texas A&M
- The Longhorns will head into this season's SEC Softball Tournament with a 2-3 all-time record against the Aggies in postseason conference tournaments.
- The two teams last played in a postseason conference tournament on May 10, 2008, when Texas dropped a 3-1 result to Texas A&M.
- May 3, 2002 was the last time Texas beat Texas A&M in a postseason conference tournament, where the Longhorns beat the Aggies, 2-1, in an eight-inning affair.
- Missouri:
- Texas is 1-4 all time against the Tigers during a postseason conference tournament with the lone win happening on May 13, 1999, when the Longhorns bested the Tigers, 8-6, in eight innings.
- Oklahoma
- Texas took the regular season conference series from Florida (7-2; 13-7; 1-3) during a mid-March three-game series in Gainesville.
- The Longhorns have won four of their last five meetings against the Gators, which is the most wins by either team over a five-game span throughout the series history.
LEADING OFF:
- Entering Thursday afternoon's game, Reese Atwood will rank fifth in the nation among active Division I softball student-athletes with 201 career RBI.
- Atwood, who reached the milestone is her 176th career game, is the only junior among the top 15 on the list.
- UCLA's Megan Grant is the next non-senior on the list and the junior is 18th with 172 career RBI in 168 career games.

- Thursday afternoon's contest will mark the 22nd all-time postseason conference tournament for the Texas softball program and eighth consecutive appearance during completed season.
- There was no Big 12 Conference Championship held in 2020, when the season was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
- The Longhorns will travel to Athens with a 33-26 all-time record during postseason conference tournaments.
- Texas has failed to win a game at a postseason conference tournament just four times: 2001 (vs. Missouri), 2006 (vs. Oklahoma State, Texas A&M), 2007 (vs. Missouri), 2019 (vs. Oklahoma State, Iowa State).
- The Longhorns have not lost in a postseason conference tournament to a team outside of Texas or Oklahoma since May 10, 2019, when Iowa State knocked off Texas, 2-0, during the Big 12 Conference Softball Tournament.
