Former Longhorn claims his fifth win of the season and his 18th career PGA TOUR victory.
OWINGS MILLS, Maryland — Former University of Texas star Scottie Scheffler carded a 3-under-par 67 on Sunday afternoon to rally for a two-stroke victory at the BMW Championship at Caves Valley Golf Club. Scheffler recorded his fifth win of the 2025 season and his 18th career PGA TOUR victory.
With his five wins this season and seven victories in 2024, Scheffler became the first player since Tiger Woods in 2006-07 to record five or more wins in back-to-back seasons. In addition, Scheffler became just the fourth golfer in the modern era to post at least 12 PGA TOUR wins including at least three majors in a two-season span, joining Arnold Palmer (twice), Jack Nicklaus (twice) and Tiger Woods (four times).
Scheffler registered a four-round score of 15-under 265 (66-65-67-67), two strokes ahead of runner-up Robert MacIntyre at 13-under 267. MacIntyre began Sunday's final round with a four-stroke lead over Scheffler, but Scheffler erased that deficit in the opening five holes. Leading by one on the par-3 17th hole, Scheffler chipped in from 82 feet for birdie to increase his cushion to two strokes and closed out the win with a par on 18.
In addition to his win at the BMW Championship on Sunday, Scheffler was also named as one of six automatic qualifiers for the 2025 United States Ryder Cup Team via the U.S. points system. Scheffler is joined by J.J. Spaun, Xander Schauffele, Russell Henley, Harris English and Bryson DeChambeau. Keegan Bradley will announce his six Captain's Picks to complete the 12-member U.S. team on Wednesday, August 27.
Scheffler will make his third-consecutive appearance on the U.S. Ryder Cup Team, and he owns a 2-2-3 career Ryder Cup record. He previously competed in 2021 at Whistling Straits and 2023 at Marco Simone Golf and Country Club.
Scheffler's win on Sunday marked the 111th official PGA TOUR victory accomplished by 17 different individuals in the 98-year history of the Texas Men's Golf program.
