No. 2 Volleyball Sweeps No. 21 Baylor in seventh ranked win of the season

Longhorns remain undefeated entering SEC play off three consecutive sweeps
AUSTIN, Texas – The No. 2 Texas volleyball finished its preseason non-conference schedule with a perfect 8-0 record after sweeping Baylor (25-18, 25-12, 25-13) in the Longhorns fourth home match of the season in front of another sellout crowd.
Friday night's win marks the seventh win over a top-25 ranked team this season and fifth sweep over a ranked opponent. The win also marked three consecutive sweeps over three ranked opponents (No. 9 Arizona State, No. 9 TCU and No. 21 Baylor) and improved the Longhorns record to 51-0 at home against the Bears.
Texas was led by freshman standout Cari Spears who tied her career high with a match-high 18 kills and a staggering .654 attack percentage. She added three blocks, four digs and an ace in her eighth collegiate appearance. The Longhorns also recorded a season-high eight service aces from four different players with Emma Halter and Torrey Staford both recording two, while Ella Swindle led the match with three. The last time Texas had three athletes record two or more aces was last season against Oklahoma when Madisen Skinner, Keonilei Akana and Avery Carlson each recording two.
Set One: In the closest set of the match, the Longhorns were led by Spears and her six kills. Texas hit .333 and carried a 78 percent sideout percentage into the second. The Longhorns had its largest lead at 17-10 and closed the set scoring the final three points.
Set Two: It was all Texas in the second. With a seven-point scoring run, Texas got out to a 17-4 lead. Baylor recorded only eight kills to the 16 Texas finished with. Spears led with six, while Torrey Stafford recorded four of her 10 total kills. Texas also recorded four of its eight aces to limit the Bears' offense.
Set Three: Texas completed the sweep limiting Baylor to its lowest attack percentage to .121 and 10 kills. The Texas defense notched five of its 11 blocks behind fellow freshman Taylor Harvey. The freshman earned her third start and led the team with four total.
